Synergy Production Group and World Vision’s Experience Hope Sunday

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

Synergy Production Group has successfully finished its first week of dress rehearsals for World Vision’s Experience Hope Sunday Tour!  The tour is scheduled to launch with its first event in Naperville, IL on August 29, 2010.  The Synergy and World Vision staffs have been working hard to ensure this unique event can easily accommodate a vast variety of host churches.

Experience Hope Sunday is an honest and inspiring journey to Africa that introduces viewers to two young children that have been orphaned by the HIV/Aids pandemic and face a perilous journey to their only remaining family.  The story is truly compelling.  World Visions seeks to raise awareness for children and families all over the world using the story Derek and Margaret, the two young children from the film.  Believe Pictures produced the film and Synergy Production Group is producing the event and has put together two teams that will be traveling with exhibits across the country.

Once again, Synergy is very proud to be working to improve the lives of others by partnering with an outstanding organization like World Vision.  We are greatly looking forward to the results this exhibit will produce.

If you would like your church to be involved, it’s quite simple.  The event is free to host!  I will be posting details regarding the process of signing up as soon as the website is finished.

Call to action and to rebuild

Haitilive

We have all been moved in the past month with the images we have seen from Haiti.  Much of it is unthinkable and the quantity of life loss is hard to process.   Over the past month, many of us have seen the benefit events and then text messaging campaigns to benefit the people of Haiti.  A lot has been done and a lot of money raised, so if you have given, thank you.  100’s of millions of dollars have been given so we should be good right?

Think again.  We spend 1.1 billion on a football stadium for the Dallas Cowboys here in the US and the people of Haiti need to rebuild much of their country.  It will take more than what has already been given.  In the beginning the focus is on disaster relief.  The media coverage fades when it moves beyond disaster and sensational stories and into the reality of re-building.   Here is your chance to change that.

In partnership with Compassion International and some amazing partners, Synergy is working to produce a simulcast event on February 27 that will take place in Nashville and Los Angeles.  Many artists have come out to support this event.  Compassion has been in Haiti for 42 years and will be there to rebuild.  Visit the website HelpHaitiLive for more information and mark your calendars for February 27th at 7pm CST to watch an amazing live event.

The story doesn’t end when the media coverage does.  The rebuilding process is extensive.  We can give more and we encourage you to support this event and the efforts of Compassion International.

Social Synergy

As a for profit company with a non-profit heart, Synergy Production Group is a member of a unique genre of organizations often called social entrepreneurs. Social entrepreneurs are those that recognize social problems and form companies to meet needs by utilizing entrepreneurial principles. Often these organizations choose one issue as a central focus. For example, Tom Shoes (http://www.tomsshoes.com/) formed in response to a lack of quality shoes for children in the third world. They created a business model that gives one pair of shoes away for every pair of shoes sold.  Amazing!

Organizations like Cool people Care (www.coolpeoplecare.org) choose a model that aids a broad base of causes. Cool People Care, a for-profit company based here in Franklin, offers products and ideas that motivate “Cool People” to get off their computer and out into the community to make difference. They offer “5 minutes of caring” as a 99 word advice column to help people change the world in 5 minutes or less.

As a production group, we have adopted this broader model of social synergy much like Cool People Care. Our form of social entrepreneurship is working in the non-profit event management niche and partnering with organizations to help improve their events. Improved events result in increased funding and broader brand awareness. Organizations like Challenge America, the Mental Health Association, World Vision, and Hoops of Hope put that funding directly to work in tangible ways. We find that results measurable in not only dollars but in socially tangible units are deeply gratifying. Socially responsible capitalism is gaining in popularity in the global economy, and we here at Synergy Production Group are glad to play our part.

How do you make a difference?

E21-SmallBoyLargeMountainHow do you make a difference? Do you want to make a difference but the mountain in front of you seems to large?  In life we are presented with opportunities to make a difference from the most unlikely sources.  Often times we are so caught up in our world  of big plans and big successes that we miss the simplicities in front of us.

Making a difference in your daily life is not a grand scheme but a simple act.  Many of our clients have developed their business by understanding that the simple acts are what create an impact.  Impact is giving food and water for a single child or helping a person with disabilities learn to ski.  It is providing beds and blankets for a family that has lost their house in a fire or raising money for children worlds away.

One of our clients has quantified this in one statement that rings true.  To make a difference you don’t have to reinvent the wheel or donate a billion dollars to a well known foundation.  You simple have to be willing.

“Do something bigger than yourself”

What act can you find this week to do that is outside of your daily life?  Let us know what you are doing to make a difference.

Dare to be different

Dare to be different.

Last Thursday I had a meeting with some amazing people. They may soon be our clients but no matter what happens there is something we can learn from them. Why? They dared to be different. They dared to make a difference. I have two questions for you today to ponder and open up some discussion so feel free to comment.

Will you dare to be different?

The Power of One

Power of One

The power of one.  Never has that phrase rung more true to me then it did last night.  One person, one mind, and one heart made an eternal difference in a young woman’s life.  I was privileged last night to attend the Compassion International dinner here in Nashville.  Sure the food was great and the relationship building even better, but it all pales in comparison to the purpose of the night.

Let me introduce you to Michelle Tolentino , a former sponsored Compassion child and Leadership Development Program (LDP) graduate.  I won’t give her full story away because I have linked to it at the bottom of the post.  However, she is a walking example of what one person or one family can do with very little sacrifice.  Michelle came from he poorest region in Manilla, The Philippines and has risen from the ashes becoming an accomplished young woman with a purpose and a passion to her life.  One artist chose to represent Compassion during his performance and one family chose to make a small financial commitment into the life of this child.  The power of one is influencing hundreds and thousands of people through Michelle’s story.

You are one.  What will you use your power for?
